The Monastery in Vyssi Brod is a gem of Czech Gothic architecture. It was founded in 1259 by the prominent noble Vok of Rozmberk. The first Cistercian monks came here from Wilhering Monastery in Austria. The family vault of the mighty Lords of the Rose is situated under the presbytery of the monastery church. The largest architectural jewel is the capitular net with a large rose window. After the fall of Communism, the monastery was returned to the Cistercian Order.
